So it isn't surprising that when Israel cried out for a King as "all the other nations had," Saul made sense for he was "a head taller than all the other men" just like the other nation's leaders were. He was supposed to be a match for Goliath, yet his height was not enough to make him victorious. So God sent Samuel to anoint a new leader. Samuel saw David's brother, Eliab and thought, "Aha! a TALL fellow! Surely he is the one can lead us and defeat the giants." But he was not the one. David was actually the runt of the litter. We don't know how tall he was, but he obviously was not known for his height as the other two were. But he had what God was looking for - the true faithful heart of a servant of God, and THAT was what defeated Goliath. Don't think that you can't stand against the giants in your life because you don't match their power or their greatness. Your heart for God is what will win the battles of your life.
